Our minds are like a battlefield. We are constantly at war between positive and negative thoughts. Unfortunately, its in our nature to gravitate toward negative thinking and eventually effect our outlook on life and even determine how we think and feel about ourselves.
Thinking By Decision Not Default
We inevitably believe about ourselves what we default to thinking about on a regular basis. If we don’t intentionally DECIDE on positive thinking then our minds will think thoughts based on our circumstances and emotions. This can lead us to making sudden decisions or to even believe things about ourselves that aren’t true.
Think It, Believe It, Become It
Our thoughts have the power to shape our day and even pave the course of our lives. Matthew 9:29 says, “…Just as you have believed, let it be done to you.” In the same manner our thoughts will become what we believe about ourselves and will eventually be what we become. This is why positive affirmations are so important. They help us create an optimistic mindset of faith, possibility and positive thinking.
The Power Of Positive Affirmations
So how do we train our minds to combat negative thoughts? This can be accomplished through positive affirmations. Affirming yourself positively reinforces what you believe about yourself and is a powerful way to build a wall of protection around your mind so that you can better repel negative thoughts as they arise.
Benefits Of Using Affirmations
- Improves our self-esteem
- Raises our level of confidence
- Strengthens our belief in ourselves

Clearly there are many other examples of positive affirmations we can list. I’ll leave it up to you to develop the positive affirmations you need in your life. Please let me share the positive affirmation I believe and use every day.
“Because of Jesus I am blessed, and highly favored. Today I choose to think positively and walk in confidence and courage. I believe that my God-given character and charisma will touch someone’s life today.” —Dan Chavez
My prayer is that you would dare to believe that God has given you everything you need to do what He’s called you to do.
