“I study your teachings very carefully so that I will not sin against you.”

-Psalms 119:11

When we take the time to study God’s Word and meditate on it something transformational happens.  We activate the living Word of God in our lives.

I’m reminded of being in school as a kid and preparing for a test.  As we studied for exams in school we became so familiar with the content that it became part of what we knew and believed about that topic.  Likewise when we study God’s Word carefully it becomes embedded in our belief system.

What stands out clearly for me in Psalm 119:11 is simply a reaction to a action, a cause and affect.  When we study God’s Word very carefully and meditate on it the reaction is “Not sinning against God.”  Our actions always cause a reaction.  As a result of our study time we become more cautious of our day to day actions because we adopt the mind of Christ.

“Put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

-Ephesians 4:22-24

Today I challenge you to meditate and think upon the Word of God very carefully.  Let it transform our way of thinking.  If you are tempted to sin today, I challenge you to interrupt the pattern of old thinking and replace unhealthy thoughts with God’s Word.

Prayer:  God I thank you for your living transforming Word has the power to change our hearts. As we choose today to meditate on your Word allowing it to become part of who we are. Please help us to replace old and unhealthy thought patterns with Your powerful, living, life changing Word.

“Never stop praying” -1 Thessalonians 5:17

    Hey Danny,

This is what I meant, when I mentioned “Sola Scriptura” the other day. God’s Word alone is sufficient and supreme above all other knowledge. There is so much “knowledge” floating around – mostly true and good – but His Word alone is the Bread of Life and the Beginning of Wisdom. His Holy Word IS the ultimate experience many are seeking.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” -John 1:1

I love your post! I love the simple thought-provoking encouragement it provides and the choice of Scriptures placed in the beginning, middle and end. You effectively keep His Word in context, yet it’s short and sweet and so very filling. The way you reflect on His Word is inspiring! It’s true… our “action” in meditating causes the “reaction” of obeying and not sinning against God. Good stuff! I especially love praying at the end about what was read. Thank you.

Continue to speak Dan. God is using your voice. May He keep on blessing it for His glory! As you learn and grow your are definitely inspiring people to reach higher.

    Love you,
    Bren❤️

    1. Thank you so much Bren! I’m blessed to hear that God is using it for His glory. I can definitely say the words written are coming from my time alone with God and He is using it to break and remake me. Love you Bren ❤️
