Prayer Hands

A New Year often symbolizes a fresh start or a clean slate.  I love the feeling of starting something new, it seems to always propel me forward.

I was recently interrupted by the realization that I had started this New Year with Jesus in the passenger seat of my life.  When I lead my life’s dreams, goals and plans they always produce my results.  Only the hard way have I discovered that my results never fully satisfy.

Lord forgive me. Take Your rightful place in me as leader of my life.  In the excitement of this New Year help me to Be Still and allow myself to be led by You.  Help me to surrender this urge to have control of my life by taking my rightful place in the passenger seat.  Please lead me.

“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

  1. It is an unconscious habit we all have to want to lead our lives, since we were created to have free will. That free will is what propels most of us to want to lead many times. It is our innate right to free will–given by God. However, living in a fallen physical world where spiritual forces in high places constantly seek to destroy us, it is wise to take the passenger seat. Jesus knows our future and what is best for us. He wants us to be happy and successful. A synonym for the word “realization” is “consciousness.” Therefore, “realizing” something in our lives give us a fresh and present perspective of making the right choices.

You are a very wise man Dan. By “realizing” you have chosen wisely. I love the humbleness and sincerity, as well as the style and flow in which you wrote your post. It is a fresh reminder to daily “realize” who needs to be in the driver’s seat.

    1. Wow! You never fail to give such valuable insight on the given topic. You truly add value to my life. I pray that one day I would have the kind of wisdom God has given you. Sincerely, thank you!

      1. Dan Chavez: God has done such a beautiful work in your life and your writings are precious nuggets of wisdom! I love that they are inspired in The Word, short and sweet. I look forward to future encouragement from you!

      2. Brenda, I’ve always looked up to you. I can remember a time at age 16 when I was frustrated and could not express myself. You advised me to WRITE out my feelings. Little did you know God was using you to inspire me to something greater! Thanks!

JC Witness Owl: You need a blog, too! So blessed to glean from your wisdom and so proud to be your daughter!

      1. Thanks! I’m not sure about that. I lean more towards wring a book some day. However, I’ll pray about it.
