Prayer Hands

It’s an empowering feeling to really rest in God.  Can we honestly say that we are really resting in Him?

Lets briefly examine what the word rest entails.  Webster’s dictionary describes one meaning of the word as: mental or emotional serenity.  It also describes the word serenity as: unclouded and clear.  In other words rest could mean a mental or emotional unclouded clarity (my emphasis added).

So how do we attain this level of rest?  The answer Jesus gives us is simple;  “Come to me”.  Yet so challenging for those of us who share the burden of carrying the weight of life’s problems on our own shoulders.

The question is why, when we don’t have to?

Lord I pray that I would wake up every morning with an attitude that surrenders every burden in my life to You.  Give me this unclouded clarity that hears Your voice saying, “Come to Me.”

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.  Matthew 11:28

  1. So true…only when we “come to Jesus” do we truly rest. It is precisely in Him, experiencing His presence and hearing His voice that we take a break and let go of our burdens and life stresses. Love the post!

So, true! Many times I carry burdens, unnecessarily. Thanks for this timely reminder.

P.S. I love you, little bro! So glad to read your writing! 🙂

    1. P.S. After reading this again, I realize that my clarity is clouded and it’s time to refocus. Seems like I’ve been carrying the burden of a doubtful perspective, fear and an unrestful spirit. This has given me a confused sense of direction. Thanks for the gentle reminder and for sharing something I know (head knowledge) back into my heart.

      1. My heart rejoices in knowing that you are growing Spiritually!

    2. Thanks Bren, I appreciate the support!
