I have found that old character defects will try to resurface from time to time. I recently realized that pride had made it’s way back into some areas of my life. Due to my pride I’ve unfortunately tasted a bitter slice or two of humble pie. This was a huge warning sign for me because pride will cause even the mighty to fall.
“But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God…” 2 Chronicles 26:16
Pride often leads to boasting, presumption, and arrogance. Through my struggles I’ve learned that pride will try to separate us from the presence of God, blind us from our own flaws and ultimately put a lid over our potential. The only real remedy is to willingly let God humble us.
Lord humble my life, break me down again and again back to dust. Rebuild me so that everything about me resembles you.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Philippians 2:3
